Creating calm in transit.

Airports are complex sensory ecosystems. With intentional design, sound can do more than entertain — it can ease overstimulation, reduce travel anxiety, and foster a sense of calm and connection throughout the passenger journey.

Through research-backed sound interventions, Sound Wellness for Airports helps transform terminals, lounges, and digital spaces into restorative environments that support both passenger well-being and operational flow.

Research on Sound, Air Travel, and Passenger Well-Being

Ongoing research through Sound & Flight, our independent sound wellness study, explores how anxious travellers experience air travel and what sensory tools help them self-regulate.

Drawing from both self-reported data and existing studies on sound and the nervous system, the findings highlight an opportunity to integrate sound-based interventions — such as therapeutic soundscapes and ambient compositions — to reduce overstimulation and promote calm in travel environments.

This work bridges neuroscience, design psychology, and artistic innovation to inform sound strategies that support emotional regulation and passenger well-being.
